We prefer using the following rootstock seeds while producing grafted plants:
1. Tomato    : Beaufort, Maxifort

2. Eggplant   : AGR 703

3. Watermelon, Cucumber : Maximus AG1355    

In our nursery, grafted tomato, eggplant and watermelon young plants are produced the most frequently. Grafted watermelon young plants are produced in 96 cell trays; grafted tomato and eggplant young plants are produced in 150 cell trays. Depending on customer’s wishes, grafted tomato and eggplant young plants can also be produced in 96 cell trays.

Grafted young plant production is performed with highly-qualified personel under hygenic conditions. In accordance with the customer’s wishes, different kinds of rootstock and variety seeds can be used.

Advantages of Grafted Plants

  • The root of grafted plants becomes very strong.
  • Grafted plants have tolerance against many root illnesses.
  • Consumption of chemicals becomes less.
  • The upper part of the plant does not get thinner towards Spring in greenhouse production.
  • Efficiency increases in grafted young plants.
  • Grafted plants have toleranse tagainst cold weather and soil conditions.
  • Some physical defects on the plants get well sooner.
  • Benefit from fertilizers is maximum in grafted plants.
  • The number of plant transplanted per 1000m2 is 20-50% less than that of non-grafted young plants.

The rules before and after planting:

  • Before planting, organic chemical should be applied to the soil .
  • During planting, the stem of the rootstock must be over the soil. The grafting point and variety should not have a contact with the soil. Even during hoeing, the grafting point should not be covered by the soil.
  • During planting, there should be no cavity below and around the root. The root of the young plant must be covered with soil.
  • After planting, the farm should be watered with big amount of water.
  • The fertiliser program should be done by taking into considering the strength of the rootstock.
